Open Office
Open the door of this design studio in downtown Boston and you’re greeted by a beautifully lit logo panel. Seeing that panel and the comfortable working spaces beyond, it’s hard to believe this suite was recently a neglected storage space.
The unrenovated space, like many we’ve worked on, was dark and divided into small rooms. Our primary goal was to create an open layout, which would increase interaction between team members while providing equal access to resources and natural light.
The space is now divided into two zones with a soft partition of birch panels suspended on stainless steel clips. The partition defines passages between the spaces, finishes off storage shelves and cabinet ends, and provides enough privacy for concentrated work.
One zone is the studio where designers work. The other houses the firm principal and marketing manager. This space also doubles as a conference area and presentation space. A custom wood-and-steel conference table is everyone’s favorite place to lunch.
